Murray Holland, a Managing Director of MHT Partners, is focused on technology-enabled business services and energy companies. He has an extensive legal and investment banking background in energy and energy services companies as well as an extensive investment banking and operational background in technology companies, including systems integration, software and networks.
Murray was Chairman and CEO of Convergent Media Systems (now a subsidiary of Sony Corporation), a custom network integrator and management company. Clients included most Fortune 100 companies and many federal government agencies. He was also Chairman and CEO of Convergent Group Corporation, a leading software and integration provider for the geographic information systems industry. Clients included telephone, electric and water utilities as well as many agencies of various governments throughout the world. He was also Chairman and CEO of BTI Americas, the third largest travel agency in the United States with around $3 billion a year in travel sales. Mr. Holland managed the conversion from traditional services to a new technology platform which led the industry. The company serviced only large business clients with over 4,000 agents throughout the United States. Prior to BTI, he was an investment banker in New York with First Boston Corporation and later moved to Kidder, Peabody & Co. where he was a Managing Director. Mr. Holland began his career in the corporate and securities law section of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld in Dallas, Texas.
Murray earned an M.B.A. with distinctions from the University of Virginia and a law degree from Washington and Lee University (cum laude and Law Review). He graduated from Washington and Lee University with a B.S. in Chemistry and Biology.
Murray recently authored the book, A Nation in the Red, which is a comprehensive review of the federal debt crisis looming in the near future and has been featured on more than 30 television and radio talk shows over the last few months.
